GOOSE CREEK, SC- Berkeley County dispatch received multiple 911 calls about an active shooter on Whisper Way in Saint James Estates in unincorporated Goose Creek Thursday night.

At 7:25 PM, Berkeley County Sheriff Deputies arrived and observed a white female randomly discharging a firearm.

After deputies made contact with the female and deployed less-lethal force, the female pointed her firearm at the deputies.

A sheriff’s deputy then discharged a firearm at the female, in order to remove the threat. The female has been taken to a local hospital.

Sheriff Duane Lewis contacted SLED to conduct an independent investigation. SLED is on the scene now.

Reports we are receiving indicated the deputy was unharmed.
