FOP-IACP Call for All Law Enforcement Officers to Wear Mourning Band in Memory of the Fallen Officers in Dallas

Chuck Canterbury, National President of the Fraternal Order of Police, and Terrence M. Cunningham, President of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, offered their sincerest condolences to the families and friends of the fallen officers in Dallas, Texas.”We are heartsick with grief at this heinous act of mass murder,” Canterbury said. “As a show of solidarity for officers across the United States, the FOP and IACP are calling on all State and local agencies to wear a black band-a mourning badge-in memory of their fallen comrades.”

“The IACP and its membership grieve with the brave men and women of Texas law enforcement.” Cunningham said, “While we stand ready to assist their agencies in any way possible in the days and months ahead, wearing a mourning badge sends a strong message of support and unity.”

“Our nation must come together and face this brutal violence in unity,” Canterbury said. “Our nation’s police officers can take the first step of demonstrating this singleness of purpose by wearing the mourning badge for the next two weeks.”

The Fraternal Order of Police is the largest law enforcement  labor organization in the United  States, with more than  330,000 members.  The International  Association  of Chiefs of Police  is the world’s largest association of law enforcement executives with over 27,000 members in 131 countries.
