Statement from FOP National President on the DOJ Task Force on Crime Reduction and Public Safety
Chuck Canterbury, National President of the Fraternal Order of Police, issued the following statement today:
The Fraternal Order of Police is a strong proponent of President Donald J. Trump’s Executive Order that created the Task Force on Crime Reduction and Public Safety. It is already yielding results, and the FOP was pleased to have participated in the National Summit on Crime Reduction and Public Safety that was held in Maryland in June.
The Task Force is palpable evidence of the President’s commitment to public safety and, under the capable leadership of U.S. Attorney General Jefferson B. Sessions III, I believe that we will reverse the rising crime rates and violence across our nation. General Sessions has made clear from his first hours on the job as our top cop that he not only welcomes input from the men and women behind the badges, he needs it to be an effective Attorney General. His door has always been open to us and we’re proud to have him as a partner.
This Administration is strongly committed to making America safe again and the members of the FOP stand ready to assist and support the Attorney General in the months and years ahead.
The Fraternal Order of Police is the largest law enforcement labor organization in the United States with more than 330,000 members.
