ABC News 4 is reporting an officer-involved shooting in Orangeburg County.

State Law Enforcement Division agents are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Orangeburg County that happened early Saturday morning.

According to SLED officials, someone opened fire at an Orangeburg County Sheriff’s deputy who had been called to an incident at the Coasters Club on Old Number Six Highway in Santee.

The deputy returned fire, SLED agents said.

The deputy was not injured. It’s unclear if the suspect was wounded.

The shooting marks the first officer-involved shooting of 2016. In 2015, there were 48 officer-involved shootings in the state; none involved deputies from the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office.
