The Bureau of Justice Assistance has updated the Public Safety Officers’ Benefits website with new fact sheets and checklists of required documents.
Enacted in 1976, the PSOB Program provides death, disability and education benefits to eligible persons. You can visit the PSOB website at https://www.psob.gov/ to apply for these federal benefits for law enforcement officers, firefighters and other first responders killed or catastrophically disabled in the line of duty.

The amount of the PSOB benefit is $339,881.00 for eligible deaths and disabilities occurring on or after October 1, 2015. The amount of the PSOB educational assistance benefit for one month of full-time attendance on or after October 1, 2015 is $1,021.00.
