What to do after a Critical Incident
After you have provided basic public safety information
- Do not provide a statement prior to speaking with an attorney
- Call your Attorney of Choice
- There is no need to contact the FOP Legal Defense Plan
- You select your attorney. It is typically best to have a lawyer in mind prior to any incident. Have their phone number saved in your phone.
- If you do not have a preferred attorney, you can use one of the pre-approved Plan Attorneys.

If you ever have questions concerning your Legal Defense Plan Coverage, you can contact any Executive Board member.
Hopefully, you will never need to utilize the Plan, but it is always better to have it and not need it than not have it and need it.
